Sports & PE AT HOME

PE at Home

As a result of our schools being closed we want to ensure our children are still trying to exercise and challenge themselves as they would during a regular school week of PE. We are fully aware of how difficult it is to juggle all the many things, as a result of lockdown, families are being tasked with. As a school we will set your child a weekly PE challenge linked to the National curriculum framework, and based around the fundamental movements. The challenges will be based around your child competing against themselves on a compete to learn basis.

As you may be aware there are many wonderful exercise based offerings online, here are a couple of our favourites:

Sport at the Federation

 Across the federation we have a number of after school sporting clubs available;

Football-

Soccer Shooters are running an after school football club. (This is more coaching based as opposed to our usual football clubs which are focused on games.) Please see link below for more information.

Netball

Basketball

Parkour

Gymnastics

Bristol Sport

Dance

We recently entered a Dodgeball competition at St Bedes, placing 3rd overall. The children represented the school in such a great way both on and off the pitch.

We are looking forward to playing in numerous more competitions at St Bedes including basketball, tennis, cycling, netball and football.

Late January also sees the start of the BSSA swimming galas which will be held at Easton Leisure centre.

In the future we also hope to arrange some sporting fixtures with some of the schools in our local area.

In our PE lessons KS2 children are able to access a really wide variety of sports ranging from ball games such as basketball and football up to much more diverse games as benchball and dodgeball. The children also have the opportunity to experience lessons in gymnastics and dance. Our KS1 children have a more ABC (agility, balance and coordination) focus, often based around a story or song approach.
